Lexus LC Hybrid Discontinued After Just 248 U.S. Sales – Here's Why

Lexus has sold only 14,000 LC models in the U.S. since the luxury sports car launched nearly eight years ago. Despite its stunning design, the slow sales may lead to the Lexus LC being discontinued soon—even after a recent 2026 model update.

One version of the car saw especially low numbers: the Lexus LC Hybrid. Lexus confirmed to Motor1 that only 248 LC Hybrids have been sold in the U.S. since it first hit the market in 2018. That includes just 7 units sold in the first half of 2025.

Here’s a year-by-year breakdown of Lexus LC Hybrid sales:

2018: 102 units

2019: 37 units

2020: 14 units

2021: 14 units

2022: 19 units

2023: 37 units

2024: 18 units

2025 (through June): 7 units

With numbers this low, it’s not surprising that Lexus discontinued the LC Hybrid in 2025.

The Lexus LC Hybrid launched in 2016 and went on sale in the U.S. in 2018 alongside the V8-powered LC 500. But the Hybrid never quite matched the excitement of the V8 model. It used a 3.5-liter V6 engine with two electric motors, producing only 345 horsepower, compared to the 471 horsepower in the LC 500. It also came with an outdated 4-speed automatic transmission, which didn’t help its appeal.

On the bright side, the Lexus LC 500 V8 is still available for 2026. Lexus recently launched a new Inspiration Series with two exclusive paint colors. The limited edition includes only 200 coupes and 350 convertibles, making it a rare and collectible version of this luxury sports car.
