Nitish Kumar Reddy Ruled Out of India vs England Test Series (July 2025)

India’s young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches against England. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Reddy has injured his left knee and will be returning home for treatment. This means he will miss the 4th Test in Manchester (starting July 23) and the 5th Test at The Oval.

Why Reddy is Out
Nitish Kumar Reddy hurt his knee ligament during a gym session.

Scans showed damage to the ligament, and doctors advised rest and treatment.

The BCCI confirmed his injury but did not mention how long he will be out.

Usually, ligament injuries take several months to recover.

Replacement Players

Anshul Kamboj, a young fast bowler, has been added to the squad to replace Reddy.

Shardul Thakur, an experienced all-rounder, is already in the squad and may be included in the playing XI.

Washington Sundar is another all-rounder in the team who will likely get more responsibility.

Dhruv Jurel, a wicket-keeper, could be picked if Rishabh Pant’s thumb injury keeps him out.

Some fans have mentioned names like Kuldeep Yadav, but with England pitches favouring pace bowling, it is less likely India will use more spinners.

Current Situation of the Series
England currently lead the series 2-1.

The 4th Test is very important for India to keep the series alive.

India is struggling with many injuries:

Arshdeep Singh is out with a thumb injury.

Rishabh Pant is recovering from a thumb injury.

Akash Deep is doubtful due to a groin problem.

This means India’s fast bowling attack is very weak at the moment.

Team Strategy Going Forward
India might be forced to play Jasprit Bumrah despite wanting to rest him.

Other pacers available are Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

The team may rely on Shardul Thakur or Washington Sundar for batting support.

With many bowlers injured, India might change their team combination for the next Test matches.
