PMGC 2025 Format Announced: PUBG Mobile’s Biggest Championship Gets a Makeover
The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2025 is set to take place in Thailand from November to December, and its new format has been officially revealed by Level Infinite and Krafton. The tournament will feature 39 teams in total, including one special invite for the host nation. This year’s structure kicks off with a fresh addition: the Gauntlet stage, where 16 regionally qualified teams will compete across 18 matches over three days. Only the top 6 teams from this round will move straight to the Grand Finals, while the remaining 10 teams will move to the next phase – the Group Stage.
The Group Stage will feature 32 teams in total — 22 direct qualifiers plus 10 from the Gauntlet. These will be split into two groups of 16 teams each. After a series of intense matches, the top 4 teams from each group will secure a spot in the Grand Finals. The teams that place 5th to 12th in each group will get one final opportunity to qualify through the Last Chance round, while the bottom 4 teams from each group will be eliminated from the tournament.
In the Last Chance stage, 16 teams will compete across 12 matches in a two-day high-stakes battle. However, only one team will move forward from this phase, earning the last spot in the Grand Finals. Combined with 6 from the Gauntlet, 8 from the Group Stage, and 1 host country invite (Thailand), the Grand Finals will feature 16 of the world’s best PUBG Mobile teams. They will face off in 18 matches over three days for the ultimate title and a share of the massive prize pool.
One major change this year is the removal of the Sanhok map, which has been officially replaced by Rondo across all PMGC 2025 and official PUBG Mobile esports tournaments. Compared to past seasons, the PMGC 2025 format is more streamlined and intense, reducing the total number of competing teams and increasing the pressure in each stage. For fans of PUBG Mobile esports, this promises a more exciting and focused championship — filled with fierce competition, map strategy, and global talent.
