The Tata Sierra is making a comeback, and this time it’s going all-electric. For many car lovers, the Sierra name brings back memories of the iconic SUV from the 1990s, but now Tata Motors is ready to bring it into the future as the Tata Sierra EV, expected to hit the market during the 2025 festive season.
Think of it as a mix of old charm with a modern twist. The Tata Sierra EV keeps its boxy design, which fans loved, but now it looks sharper with LED lights, sleek handles, stylish alloy wheels, and a floating glass effect at the back that makes it stand out. Underneath, it runs on Tata’s new acti.ev Gen 2 platform, the same advanced base used in the Harrier EV, which promises stronger performance and smoother rides.
The company is likely to launch the SUV with two battery options—65 kWh and 75 kWh. This means it could easily deliver a powerful drive with all-wheel control and produce a torque of about 504 Nm. For everyday users, this translates into strong acceleration and the ability to handle city roads or highways with ease. Most importantly, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to give a range of up to 500 km on a single charge, which means fewer worries about running out of battery during long trips.
In terms of size, the Sierra EV will be around 4.3 meters long and 1.8 meters wide, with a good wheelbase of 2.65 meters, so families will get the comfort and space they expect from an SUV. Step inside, and you’ll find a tech-packed interior with features like a panoramic sunroof, dual screens, and even a three-screen setup, something new for Tata cars. Safety and convenience won’t be left behind, as it is expected to offer ADAS features, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and connected car technology.
The price is likely to fall between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh, making it a premium but practical option in the growing electric SUV segment in India. Tata also plans to launch petrol and diesel versions of the Sierra in 2026, giving people more choices depending on their preferences.
What makes the Sierra EV exciting is how it blends nostalgia with modern needs. For older generations, it brings back the SUV they admired in the past, while for today’s buyers, it’s an electric, tech-loaded, and stylish option for the future.
