VinFast VF 6 & VF 7 India Launch: Price, Range, Specs, and Variants Explained

VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 Variants: Price, Specs, Range, and What They Mean for India

The VinFast VF 6 can run up to 399 km on a single charge. The bigger VF 7 promises 450 km and up to 348 hp in its most powerful version.

These numbers aren’t just good on paper—they show VinFast is ready to fight for a top spot in India’s growing electric SUV market.

VinFast’s Big India Launch
VinFast officially brought the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs to India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi (Jan 2025). Pre-bookings started July 15, 2025, with a refundable ₹21,000 booking amount. The company says these SUVs are built for Indian roads, with strong range, modern design, and advanced tech.

Both SUVs will be made at VinFast’s new factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu—its first plant outside Vietnam. This means faster deliveries, lower costs, and trims designed for local needs.

Variants, Price, and Specs

VinFast VF 6 Variants:
Eco – 399 km range (WLTP), 174 hp, front-wheel drive.

Plus – 381 km range, 201 hp, sportier feel.

VinFast VF 7 Variants:
Eco – 450 km range, 201 hp, front-wheel drive.

Plus – 431 km range, 348 hp, all-wheel drive, quickest of the bunch.

All versions come with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assist (ADAS), large touchscreens (12.9″ on Eco, 15″ on Plus), and over-the-air software updates. Expected prices are ₹18–24 lakh for VF 6 and ₹35–45 lakh for VF 7.

Which One Should You Look At?
If you mostly drive in the city and want great range for the price, the VF 6 Eco or VF 7 Eco will make the most sense. If you want faster acceleration, bigger screens, and in the VF 7’s case, all-wheel drive for better grip, the Plus versions are worth the extra cost.

Both SUVs were designed with input from Italy’s Torino Design, so they look sharp. The VF 6 feels compact but classy; the VF 7 has a bolder, more tech-heavy interior.

How They Fit in India’s EV Market
VinFast is entering a space where competition is heating up, from Tata and Mahindra to Hyundai and BYD. The VF 6 lands between budget EVs and premium hybrids, while the VF 7 is aimed at buyers looking for more power and luxury.

The big difference? VinFast is betting on local manufacturing, its own charging network, and service centers before the first deliveries even start. As CEO Pham Sanh Chau said: “The VF 6 and VF 7 represent our vision of bringing world-class EVs tailored to local needs.”

The Bottom Line
VinFast’s VF 6 and VF 7 bring two clear choices—Eco for value and range, Plus for performance and features. With competitive prices, good specs, and local assembly, they could become a serious alternative to established EV brands in India.

If you’re thinking about switching to electric, this might be the year to keep VinFast on your list.
